Mile Straight Children’s Ministry

A Safe and Spirit-Filled Space for Kids

At Mile Straight Baptist Church, our Children’s Ministry is built on two unwavering foundations: safety and discipleship. We understand that when new families visit, one of their top concerns is the wellbeing of their children. That’s why we take security seriously. Every child is checked in using a barcode system that links each child to their parent or guardian. Kids receive printed name tags that include any vital medical information, such as allergies, ensuring our volunteers are always informed.

Once service begins, our children’s area is secured. Doors lock to prevent unauthorized access, and a designated security team monitors the entrance and surrounding areas.

Partnering with Parents for Discipleship

While we’re thrilled to teach your children each week, we know that we only have them for a short time. That’s why we believe discipleship starts at home. Our ministry is designed to partner with families to help them lead their children spiritually every day.

We use The Gospel Project, a three-year chronological walk through the Bible—from Genesis to Revelation. On Sunday mornings, children first gather in a large group for the day’s lesson, then break into age-specific small groups (Preschool, Younger Elementary, Older Elementary) where trained volunteers help them dive deeper into the story. This format allows us to meet kids where they are and encourage meaningful questions and planting seeds of faith.

On Wednesday nights, our ministry shifts into high-engagement mode. Kids rotate through activities like Bible story time, crafts, games, snacks, and more. These rotations keep kids moving and engaged, and they stay with their small group the entire evening, allowing them to build strong relationships with their leaders and peers. If a child needs a moment away from the activity, an on-site administrator is always available to help without disrupting the group.

Discipleship Beyond the Church Walls

Discipleship doesn’t end when kids leave the building. Each month, we send out a newsletter with Bible verses for parents to work on with their children at home. When kids memorize verses, they earn stickers for their chart and points to use in our “store” at the end of each nine-week period—adding fun and motivation to spiritual growth.

We also share Parent Resources regularly through Facebook and Instagram to make it easier for families to engage in faith-building at home. In addition, many of our parents participate in our men’s and women’s Bible studies, which equip them to disciple their kids more effectively and model a lifelong commitment to faith.

Cultivating a Heart for Missions and Giving

At Mile Straight, missions are at the heart of who we are—and we instill that value early. Each week, children are encouraged to bring an offering. It’s a fun and engaging way to teach kids about generosity, tithing, and supporting global missions, helping to raise up lifelong givers who care about spreading the Gospel.

Our Children’s Ministry is more than just childcare—it’s a place where faith is formed, relationships are built, and families are supported. Whether you’re new to Mile Straight or have been here for years, we’d love to partner with you in raising the next generation to know and love Jesus.
